Information

Pippin is the first born of the "Lord of the Ring's" litter. As it was with his grandfather, Levi, I liked this boy from the moment he was born. Pippin is co-owned with Pat and Krista Maynard with whom I also co-own Disco and Star but due to circumstances in both our households Pippin ended up living with me.

What can I say about Pippin - how about he is pretty darn near perfect in my opinion! He is SUCH a sweet, gentle and easy boy to live with. Around the house he is quiet and a good eater even when there are bitches in season around. He is also incredibly good with his grandpa Levi. Levi has a bit of an annoying habit of yakking in other dog's faces as he pretends to be the "tough guy". Many intact males would not take too kindly to this behaviour but Pippin is extremely tolerant of Levi. He also loves little puppies and small children. I hope that one day there will be time for him to become a Therapy Dog with children as I think he would be excellent at it.

Pippin also has quite the impressive pedigree. In just three generations he has 6 BIS winners, one RBIS winner and one Iditarod finisher. His grandmother Freya is from the famed NorthWapiti Norse God litter. Freya was on Karen's Iditarod Ceremonial start team and three of her littermates Odie, Loki and Kara were 5 time Iditarod veterans. Freya, Loki and Kara were also Canadian Champions. Other relatives also finished their Sled Dog and Working Dog degrees and participated a variety of other activities including obedience, agility, rally obedience and therapy dog work. Again all in just the first three generations.

Pippin has a lot to live up to but he is already proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the show ring and on the trail. I'm sure the future will see him into other activities as well.

On The Trail

On the trail, Pippin is very serious about his job. He is a consistent solid, hard worker in hanress and is very powerful at taking me up hills. He obtained his Working Dog title when he had just turned a year of age and we hope to get him to some races in the future to work on his Sled Dog titles. Pippin runs all positions, including lead and may well become a main leader in the future.

In The Show Ring - Highlights

Pippin is an American and Canadian National Speciatly AOM winner. He finished his American Championship in just 8 shows with 4 majors!!! He is a multi Group 1st winner in fairly limited showing. He is just starting to really mature and come into his own so I have very high hopes for this boy in the show ring!

Pippin Summer 2008
2012 NEWS

Pippin might well be that once in a life time dog for me in the sense that while he might not be everything each side is looking for in a Siberian, he is non the less, a Siberian that seems to be appreciated by both show and working Siberian breeders. This doesn't happen very often because the breed has sadly been increasingly splitting into almost two different breeds over the last 50 years. I'm extremely proud of the fact that Pippin is a dog who not only has enough "pretty" and "flash" to do some pretty impressive winning in the show ring with very limited showing but who also has the structure the working people feel is necessary to do the job the breed was originally bred to do in harness. In the past 10 years the breed's ability to work in harness has become increasingly important to me and it is why I've started to more seriously run the dogs and get them to races. But I also feel it is important that dog show judges see a Siberian like Pippin that "satisfies" both groups of breeders. For this reason I have decided for the first time in 35 years to seriously campaign (or at least as seriously as my budget will allow ;) one of my Siberians not just at local shows but also shows outside of Atlantic Canada. So look for Pippin at the shows in 2012!! :)
