The 2008 Siberian Husky Club of Canada National Show Committee wants to invite you to come join us in Canada's Ocean Playground to attend the 2008 SHCC National Specialty which will be held Aug. 30th in conjunction with the Halifax Kennel Club Shows at Exhibition Park, Halifax, NS, Canada.
We have an exciting National in the making with a panel of Breeder Judges for both the Regular Classes and the Sweeps. Michael Jennings [due to health reasons Vince Buoniello will be replacing Mike Jennings} will be judging the Regular and Non-Regular Classes and Karen Ramstead will judge Sweepstakes and Unofficial Classes. The Halifax Kennel Club is offering three all breed conformation shows and three Obedience trials. AND, two Rally-O trials to be offered in conjunction with the HKC shows. Other Breed Specialties happening at the HKC shows will be offering additional all-breed Obedience and Rally-Obedience trials so even more opportunies for obedience enthusiasts. As well the Cape Breton Kennel Club offers 4 shows and 4 trials (including Rally-O Obedience) over 2 days the weekend prior to the National.
We are also busy planning a banquet, two presentations, a silent auction and other events in connection with this National. The speakers for our presentations will be Karen Ramstead and Vince Buoniello. Karen's presentation will be on Friday night, Aug. 29th. Karen and her CKC registered NorthWapiti Siberians, some of which are CKC champions, have been running the 1,000 mile Iditarod race each year since 2000. Vince has been breeding and showing Siberians since 1963 and racing Siberians since 1969. He is a AKC judge of Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds and Akitas. He will give his talk on Saturday night, Aug. 30th, after the banquet.
Our host hotel will be The Quality Inn and Suites, Halifax, NS. It is where both presentations will take place and the banquet. This hotel offers excellent rooms with large TVs, mini fridge and microwave, internet connection, queen size beds and free deluxe Continental breakfast. We have a few rooms set aside for the National and you can get the National Rate by mentioning that you are with the SHCC. It is highly recommended to book a room early because there is a big musical concert event being held on the Halifax Commons the same night as the National so hotel rooms in Halifax will be at a premium during the National weekend!
While you are here for the National make sure you plan to take time to explore our beautiful City and Province. There are many MUST see sites of historical interest and extraordinary beauty!
