Information

When I think of Jive, the words that come to mind to describe her are soundness in structure, body and mind, moderation, very balanced, lovely proportions and beautiful type. For me, there is nothing extreme about Jive. She embodies the words moderate and medium that are used so often in the Siberian Husky Standard. She is exactly the type of dog I'm striving to produce in my breeding program!

Jive is from my "Dance Litter". Since I did so much Freestyle Dancing with Jive's father, Levi, I thought I would give his kids dance names. As a puppy, Jive just loved to jump into my arms with no forewarning whatsoever or when trying to move her on a lead, she would move very nicely and than suddenly leap into the air. I keep saying I should have called her "Jump N Jive". Her intelligence and agility were evident as a very young pup as she was the first out of the whelping box and at six weeks of age was trying to climb out of the xpen.

As Jive has matured she has calmed down and possesses a quiet, gentle manner which is what makes her such a wonderful Therapy Dog. Like Siri, Jive knows she is my girl and the "Princess" / "Queen" of the house. Jive is also like her mother, Freya. in that she is an absolutely wonderful mother to her puppies. Jive remembers her puppies even years after they have gone to their new homes, getting extremely excited when she sees them. Possilbly the most cheerest activity Jive and I share together is our walks together at Point Pleasant Park. This is always a very special time for the both of us. I hope Jive and I enjoy many, many years together walking in the park, as her grandmother Siri and I did before her.

On the Trail
Jive has developed into a very nice working dog who now runs mostly in lead for me. She is excellent at her on-bys. In 2008 she obtained her Working Lead Dog (WLD) title and I hope to get to some races with her in the future and put a SD title on her.

In The Show Ring
To be honest, I wasn't sure how well Jive would do in the show ring as a puppy. Her father took a long time to mature and then I bred him to a bitch from working lines that are very slow to mature. As a 6 month old Jive was described by one friend as looking like a string bean with legs. However, her soundness was there from the beginning and given time she has matured into a beautiful girl that is being appreciated in the show ring by both respected All Round Judges and Breeder / Judges who work their own dogs in harness.

Jive was busy raising a litter of puppies in 2009 so did not get to any CKC shows. However in Oct. she went to some CFC shows and in Nov. we took her and her son Pippin to the Purina National Dog Show and Siberian Husky Club of Delaware Valley Specialty in Philadelphia, PA.

Canadian Championship 2005/2006
Jive picked up a singleton point as a junior puppy. Then she went to the Moncton Kennel Club where she went Best of Breed under Guy Jeavons for 3pts on Nov. 12th, 2005 and the next day went Best of Winners for another 2 points. She then took some time off to grow up a little and change coats. On the weekend of June 24th/25th, 2006 she returned to the show ring where she finished her Canadian Championship at the Evangeline Kennel Club shows with back to back 2 pt. Best of Breed wins under David Paterson and James Reynolds.

Therapy Dog

In Sept. 2006 Jive passed both her Canine Good Neighbour test and became a St. John Ambulance Therapy dog. I'm so very proud of these accomplishments, especially her following in her mom and grandma's paws as a therapy dog.

Brace

Jive, along with her sister Ceilidh went Best Brace In Show at the Moncton Kennel Club Show. on Nov. 11th, 2006. Click on "As Brace with Sister" in side bar to see these two girls together. PICTURE

Other

Jive has also started to focus on a variety of other activities including agility, obedience, therapy dog work and off course free style dancing. Jive has already learned several dancing moves and I think she will live up to her name. :)
